Okay, this podcast only makes sense if you are a fan of the US version of The Office. And I am. I’ve watched the series several times with my family and we happily watch re-runs if we happen to catch them on-air. I LOVE the characters, the amazing and changing cast over seven seasons, and the twists and turns of life at a paper sales company.
The premise of this podcast is that you go back to the beginning of The Office, watch an episode, then listen to Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey share their ‘fun facts’ and insider notes. IT’S SO MUCH FUN. It’s obvious that the hosts have an affection for each other, their fellow cast mates, the talented writers and directors of the show, and the crazy story lines they helped put together.
I like listening to industry-insider stories.
For example, how Angela Kinsey was directed when delivering her first line for the TV show. The director applauded her scene, but kept encouraging her to give “half”. It seems she toned herself down to become the straight-faced accountant (also called Angela). And that the cast sat around at desks for lengthy periods of time, pretending to work in an office, immersing themselves into their roles (and grabbing some B-roll, too).
I also adore how Fischer and Kinsey share insights into the writing of the TV show – you hear about the writers’ process, how they collaborated, where they gained ideas, and how some of the most famous lines were tweaked.
