The official blurb: Final Draft is your essential dose of books, writing & literary culture. Every week we feature interviews with Australian authors that get to the heart of their work, as well as festival, events and all the news you need to understand the world of Australian letters. Final Draft is another terrific writing podcast, made in Sydney and featuring an interview with an author in each weekly episode.
For the most part, the interviews are sparked by the author’s most recent publication but occasionally, there’s a “bonus” or theme episode, such as Jane McCredie on the future of Writing NSW, or Zoya Patel on the Stella Prize.

Every episode is hosted by Andrew Pople, who has a warm and youthful voice and quite quickly settles the guests into a conversation that sounds like they’re sitting on a sofa together.
This isn’t the type of writing podcast to focus too much on writing practice per se, but more about the author and the themes of their work – often exploring those themes at length, from a historical and contemporary context. It also delves into the publishing industry.
Guests have included JP Pomare, Rebecca Lim, Loraine Peck, Karen Wyld and Jock Serong. I always love discovering a writing podcast and zipping down the list of episodes to find the names of favourite authors. In this case, those favourites include Garry Disher, Charlotte Wood, Kate Grenville and Heather Rose.
Final Draft is part of the 2SER family, which produces other great podcasts including Fourth Estate, which I’ve been subscribed to for a long time and keep meaning to write about on these pages …
